Wigan's Woes to continue at Wolves

There are three fixtures in the Premier League & the Championship this Sunday but you'd struggle to describe it as a 'Super Sunday' with the games looking less than potential greats, that doesn't mean that a betting edge can't be found & we've picked a game from either division & headed across to Spain for an ealry kickoff too.

(EC Mick McCarthy will be looking for a home win to get the doubting fans off his back)

In the early afternoon kick off in the Premiership, Wolverhampton Wanderers host Wigan at Molineux, so far this season they only have three wins & 14 points between them & sit 17th & 20th respectively in the league. Even though we are only a quarter of the way through the season this is a massive game for both sides & three points could prove crucial in their battle to stay in the division. Wolves have now gone eight league games without a victory, losing six & drawing two. Their last point came in a 2-2 draw at home to Swansea, where they came from 2-0 down in the last 10 minutes to snatch a point which in all honestly they didn't really deserve. This result has been followed up by a Carling Cup & league defeat to current leaders & form side Man City but certainly in the 3-1 away defeat, Wolves fought hard, played well & the performance gives them something to build on. With Steven Fletcher seemingly unlikely to start, Mick McCarthy has a decision of whether to stick with the current 4-5-1 formation with Jamie O'Hara supporting lone striker Kevin Doyle or give a recall to Sylvan Ebanks-Blake & switch to 4-4-2. Due to their current defensive frailties we would expect them to stick with the 4-5-1 with Stephen Hunt, Matt Jarvis, Adam Hamill & David Edwards fighting it out for the two wide roles & leaving themselves two striking options on the bench.

Visitors Wigan are on a terrible run of seven defeats in their last seven games, which is their worst run since November 2007. On the road this season their record reads one draw & four defeats with only one goal scored when they took a shock 1-0 lead at Everton before eventually losing the game 3-1. They have problems at both ends of the pitch & despite the likeability factor of Spanish manager Roberto Martinez, he seems powerless in stopping them falling through the trap door. Centre back captain Gary Cadwell is suspended tomorrow which isn't going to help a defence which seems to make individual errors on a weekly basis that they just don't learn from. In attack they have only scored six goals in ten games & strikers Franco Di Santos has two (both deflective efforts against QPR) whilst leading talisman in recent seasons Hugo Rodallega has yet to break his season duck, with him not being helped by injuries.

You just can't see where Wigan's next goal let alone next point is coming from currently & Wolves must see this as a perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways at the best price of evens with Coral. Despite the lack of wins, Wolves attacking players do score goals & an early strike will settle the fans & enable them to run out comfortable winners.

Down in the Championship, managerless Leicester City entertain Leeds Utd at King Power Stadium. The Foxes departed with Sven-Goran Eriksson after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Millwall a couple of weeks ago. As the foreign owners bide their time over his replacement, caretaker manager Mike Stowell returned the side to winning ways in midweek with a impressive 3-1 away victory at Burnely. Their defence seems solid with five clean sheets in their last nine league games & they have returned to scoring ways in recent games with five in their last two after a lean patch. Visitors Leeds had a disaster Wednesday night with a 5-0 hammering at home to Blackpool & after three errors by keeper Paul Rachubka he was hauled off at half time. It has given gaffer Simon Grayson no choice but to sign Reading's U21 keeper Alex McCarthy on a months loan to add depth in that department with regular keeper Andy Lonergan still unavailable with a fractured finger. During this goalkeeper crisis, Leeds are unbackable as a solid stopper breads confidence to the back four & throughout the side. Add this to the factor that Leeds have only scored one goal in their last 270 minutes of league football, the evens available at Boylesports for a Leicester victory seems a too good opportunity to miss.

Across on the continent in an early game that kicks off at 11am Real Madrid take on a distinctly average Osasuna side who've conceded 17 goals in the league & Real will be looking to turn them over convincingly. real have attacking options all over the pitch & they've conceded jusy 6 times in their 10 league games, even if they rest Cristiano Ronaldo they have enough attacking power to make the 5/6 on offer for them to cover a -2 goal handicap a decent bet.

Selections:
Wolverhampton Wanderers to beat Wigan Athletic at evens (Coral)
Leicester City to beat Leeds United at evens (Boylesports)
Get the double on the above two selections at odds of 3/1 & a nice pay day
Real Madrid to beat Osasuna with a -2 goal handicap at 5/6 with Stan James
