Valentines Day Bookie Massacre

After being let down by Didier Drogba's penalty miss (we tipped him to score 1st + Ivory Coast to win) for a 100% tipping weekend we feel we need to get back on track quickly & we've trawled the markets again to find a couple of bets from the English leagues as we take a look at Tuesday night's games. As an aside two weekends back we were advising backing Wolves to finish bottom of the Premier League at 5/1 & now they're a best price of just 7/2 following Mick McCarthy's departure, for those who like their long term bets we still think there's a bit of value in that & especially the 4/6 for them to be relegated!

(Jose Semedo has proved an excellent signing for Sheffield Wednesday from Charlton)

In League One 2nd in the table Sheffield Wednesday take on Stevenage at Hillsborough in a game between two of the league's best teams. Wednesday have been outstanding at home, losing just once & drawing three times with ten wins but they'll have to overcome a side in Stevenage that have conceded just 11 times in 14 away games & who have the 2nd best defence in the league behind leaders Charlton. Thanks to the weather Stevenage haven't played since their FA cup win against Notts County in new manager Gary Smith's first game in charge whereas Wednesday have played three times in the league getting a win, a draw & a loss. Smith surely won't want to change things too much tactically from what predecessor Graham Westley was doing as they have only one league loss since October & they will surely come & try to keep things tight but it will be tough to stop Wednesday scoring as they have 29 goals in their 14 home games. Wednesday will be looking to avenge a humiliating 5-1 defeat to Stevenage at the start of the season & will look to strike partnership Ryan Lowe & Gary Madine to do the damage; they have 20 league goals between them. Stevenage share their goals throughout the team but Chris Beardsley has been a danger man although he's often used as a super sub, the worry for them is trying to get going again after a two week break & although the rest will have been welcomed Sheffield Wednesday can prove a little sharper & take the win at odds of 20/21. We don't expect this to be easy & with that in mind we like the look of a 1-0 win for Wednesday at a tempting 7/1.

(Brighton's Will Buckley has scored three in his last four games)
In the Championship, Brighton & Hove Albion host Millwall at the Falmer Stadium. Brighton are in 7th position & just one point outside the play-off places and Millwall are 20th & five points from the drop zone. The Seagulls are in fine current form since the turn of the year; with six victories in their seven league games & they beat Leeds 2-1 away at the weekend. They have won three in a row in front of the home faithful without conceding a goal against Southampton, Bristol City & Leicester City. Visitors Millwall are at the opposite end of the form table with five defeats, one draw & only one win in their last seven league matches, their away record this season makes miserable reading with just nine points from a possible 42 with nine defeats. We expect that Brighton will be too strong for a struggling Millwall team at a best price of 11/10.

Selections:
Sheffield Wednesday to beat Stevenage at 20/21 (BetVictor)
Sheffield Wednesday to beat Stevenage 1-0 at 7/1 (William Hill)
Brighton & Hove Albion to beat Millwall at 11/10 (Bet365/William Hill)

A double on the two above sides pays just over 3/1.

  1. Brighton is definitely a great call at nice odds IMHO. Wednesday vs. Stevenage game likely to be tight. The double would be a lovely payout. Best of luck guys. Nice write up.
    Cheers. @badtipster
